TEMPUSTRY
Timeline…
Allen
Brunelle began his musical journey at a very young age and
was first recognized for his musicianship at age 17 when awarded
a scholarship for jazz performance on drumset from the Berklee
College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
In 1989,
while living in San Antonio, Texas, he drummed for the metal
band King’s Ransom and recorded the ‘Curators of the Realm’ EP.
Allen was then accepted into the Percussion Institute of
Technology (PIT) in Hollywood, California, but opted to accept a
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live and work in Great Britain
and Germany, having recently married.
Upon
returning from Europe, Allen joined Iluvatar on drums and
supported the 1997 ‘Sideshow’ tour with such memorable concert
dates as Buenos Aires, Argentina (documented in the ‘Iluvatar en
Argentina’ VHS), and Prog-Est ‘97, Quebec City, Canada.
Allen
joined The Dark Aether Project (DAP) in 2000 and
supported the ‘Feed The Silence’ tour which included Ray
Weston (Echolyn) on lead vocals. Notable performances
included ProgDay 1999 (captured on the ProgDay Encore Live CD
set), as well as, opening for Happy the Man’s reunion show in
2000.
Tempustry, Allen’s electronic music project, made its debut
lending the track ‘Horizon’ to the ‘What’s New In Baltimore’
sampler/compilation CD included in Expose Magazine’s March 2001
issue.
Allen went
on to record DAP’s ‘The Gentle Art of Firewalking’ in 2002,
playing drums, some synthesizer, and backing vocals, as well as,
co-writing music and lyrics.
In 2004,
he was asked by guitarist Greg Kozlowski to guest drum for the
Massachusetts-based space rock band, Architectural Metaphor at
the Doug Walker Testimonial Space Rock Festival held at Orion
Studios, Baltimore, Maryland. It was this rewarding experience
that sparked some of the initial concepts for Tempustry’s
live show.
Allen
released Tempustry’s 1st studio CD, ‘Le Voyage du
Temps’ on his Time Voyage Music label in 2005.
‘Le Voyage
du Temps recalls some of the pioneers who blazed a trail for
electronic progressive way back when the iconic Moog synthesizer
ruled the realm. Names like Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream and
Jean Michel Jarre’.
– Progression Magazine
‘If you
like the past masters and grand gurus of kosmische musik, you'll
like Tempustry's Le Voyage du Temps’.
– Aural Innovations
From 2005
- 2006, Allen provided tour support for the Celtic/Renaissance
Metal band, Todesbonden, sharing the stage with well known bands
such as Therion and The Gathering.
Late 2006
finds Allen concentrating on the release of Tempustry’s 2nd
studio CD.
Coinciding
with Tempustry’s appearance at ROSFest, Allen’s 2nd
CD release, ‘Astral Gate’ promises to be an all-out unrestrained
assault of an innovative blurring of Berlin & Dusseldorf schools
of electronic music. Tempustry’s live show will be equally
unparalleled as Allen performs with a stage setup that boggles
the imagination, surrounded by Moog, Oberheim, and Roland analog
synthesizers, sequencers, vintage Simmons and Tama electronic
percussion, Zildjian cymbals, Celtic Bells, and Tama Gong Bass
Drum. Joining Allen on ‘Astral Gate’ in the studio and live on
stage will be long-time friend and fellow synthesist, Jim Rezek
(Iluvatar) on mellotron and synthesizers. Compositions will meld
spacey and ethereal soundscapes, soaring leads, and subsonic
salvos of electronic and acoustic motorik.
